Estate houses and old oaks
Houses range from early Spanish and Mediterranean revival estates to later ranch and traditional homes, many on large lots with pools, guest houses and outbuildings. Typical work is a full renovation of an older estate house, a new home on an existing lot, or a pool house or guest unit.
Hot, dry summers shape the work: shade, insulation, glazing and cooling are planned with the design, and roofing, vents and planting near the house are chosen with wildfire exposure in mind. Protecting heritage oaks during construction is part of the site plan.
Design and county review
Diablo is unincorporated, so building permits come through Contra Costa County. We prepare the permit set with your architect or our design team, and plan access on the community's narrow lanes before work begins.
